Marcela Reyes
Marcela Reyes was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and currently lives in Garland, Texas. Her upbringing in both places has been an important part of her artwork, as she explores her personal memories of both places to examine and understand the role each place has played in her journey of assimilating a different culture and language. She works with the process of layering materials, textures, colors, and objects to signify the many layers that are embedded in her through these places. In 2015, Reyes earned her BA in Art and Humanities from The University of Texas at Dallas. She completed her MFA in Intermedia Studio at The University of Texas at Arlington in 2019. She has exhibited her work throughout the United States. She received an Artist’s Microgrant from the Nasher Sculpture Center for her 2017 project, Intercambio.
